Bill Gates on Coronavirus – This is like a world war

-Keshav Rathi

Bill Gates said that the current scenario of the world is more like a world war. Even, while giving the Ted talk in Vancouver in 2015, Bill Gates warned about the extreme fatality of infectious viruses. He stated that “If anything kills over 10 million people in the next few decades. It’s most likely to be a highly infectious virus, rather than a war. Speaking about the ongoing fight he added, “The damage to health, wealth, and well-being has already been enormous. This is like a world war, except in this case, we’re all on the same side.”

He also added that the most affected are the low-income and minority workers. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed a total of $250 million in the global fight against COVID-19. According to Gates, one of the priorities of their foundation is to help in amplifying the testing in developing countries like India and Kenya. This will give them more clarification about their situation.

“I have been asked when large-scale vaccination will start. And I would mostly say that it could take around 18 months. Even though it could be as short as nine months or may take two years or even more. The most crucial thing that will make the difference will be the length of the phase 3 trial. Where the full safety and ability to produce the desired result would be determined,” said Gates.
